Tim Knue

About Tim

Tim Knue, a lifelong area resident, award-winning high school teacher, husband and father, is our candidate for the State House of Representatives in the 10th District.

Tim believes that government works best when we elect leaders who listen to our priorities, learn the issues, and lead by example. He’s taking his campaign from the cul de sacs north of Arlington to the neighborhoods of Oak Harbor and the tulip fields of Skagit.
His approach in this campaign and as a legislator will be to listen to the people, learn from history and from their input, make thoughtful decisions, and then lead with diligence and confidence

Tim knows the people of this district and understands the concerns of its families: strong, safe communities, quality schools and a vibrant economy, transportation solutions that work, and health care that we can afford.

A 32-year classroom teacher and former teacher of the year, Tim understands that good schools are the foundation of a strong community. Tim will work for better funding of basic education, and improve standards that allow teachers and students to succeed.

Tim is a longtime supporter of Main Street business and family farms. He will fight to limit taxes, invest in job training and small business development, and make health care affordable for employers and employees alike.

As small towns and rural ways of life come under threat from unplanned development, soaring property taxes and worsening traffic, Tim will work with local leaders to fight for farms and open space, improve traffic and ferry service, and make sure new growth reflects the character of our communities.

Tim will bring a focus on cooperation to Olympia to make sure rural communities and small towns, small business and family farms all have a strong voice in Olympia.

Tim grew up in Oak Harbor and has made his home in Conway for 27 years, where he and his wife Ricky raised two grown sons, Paul and Mark. A graduate of Washington State University, he teaches agriculture education at Mount Vernon High School and has been an active community volunteer as a youth soccer and junior golf coach.

This is Tim’s second campaign for State Representative. He led on Election Day in 2006 before losing narrowly to Rep. Barbara Bailey. In his last campaign he personally knocked on thousands of doors throughout the sprawling three-county district. He has been reviving his grass roots network since 2007 in preparation of another race.
